The first step is to choose which WI you’d like to join.
You will probably want to consider:
There may be other considerations such as accessibility and group size.
You can check all this information on our Find Your WI page.
Contact the WI you’re interested in joining and arrange to join a meeting as a visitor – or just turn up shortly before the meeting is due to start. Maybe try two or three WIs to see which one works best for you.
Once you’ve decided, you will then need to complete an application form and pay your subscriptions. Your chosen WI or Isle of Wight Federation can help you with this. Payment can be made by cash or cheque and many WIs accept bank transfers (but not card payments due to the charges made).
Subscription rates are made up of 3 parts - one part goes to the local WI, one part goes to the Isle of Wight Federation, and the final part goes to National. You only need to make the one total payment.
The following table shows the subscription rates for 2025/26. Renewals occur annually, on 1st April, but for brand new members joining part way through the year, we pro-rata the cost. The 'total subscription' is the maximum you will need to pay as many WIs reduce their share of the subscription, resulting in a lower overall cost.
You can join two or more WIs if you wish. Quite a few members like to do this, as the WIs each offer something different. When joining a second or third WI, you will pay them only the WI share of the subscription, as you will have already paid the Federation and National Federation amounts at your first WI.
Your name, address, phone number and email address will be held on a National WI database called MCS which only accessible to a couple of members at each WI. You can find our Privacy Policy here.
