I was brought up in Wales. My mother signed me up to join WI age 11 years old. She was always busy on various committees. I wonder why I have ended up the same!!!! It was allowed in the 50’s !!! I learnt so much from the WI members especially craft work. It was post war and so many of the members were either widowed or engaged but their fiancé had been killed. They never moved on but remained widows/spinsters. They saw me as the daughter they would never have. Consequently they took me under their wings.
Did nurse training in Chester and met my husband who was a patient!!
Had 4 daughters. Lived in Kuwait for 6 years and Saudi Arabia for 5. Worked for the British Council teaching English as a foreign language to adults.
Returned to UK and nursing in Cambridge. Got my degree and got a position as Lecturer in Nursing at Cambridge University. Came to the Island in 2005 and worked as St Mary’s for 5 years Sister on chemotherapy Unit.
Now I am like my mother on various meetings.
