She amassed 25 years on the IW board of trustees, and around 20 years as a helper in the WI House office, as well as serving two decades as convenor of a group of WIs.She has been a dedicated worker in the WI tea tents at the Royal IW County Show, and was described by Sue Biss, chair of the IW Federation of WI, as "simply very special to us".

Val is a sprightly lady in her 80s and we couldn’t do without her.  She moved to the Island in 1964 and was a founder member of Medham WI and their President for over 25 years.  She is still a member today.  Val loves the theatre and often supports local productions, but she misses the hustle and bustle of London and big theatre productions in the City.  She is passionate about cricket and all her family were once involved with Porchfield cricket club, from making teas, umpiring and being in the team.
